  1. Check If Any Software is Blocking the Ports That Yahoo Mail Uses

Sometimes, the security setting or programs such as Antivirus Software, Anti-Spyware Programs, Firewalls Settings, etc. can block ports that Yahoo uses. If you find any of the ports (995, 465, or 587) being blocked, the email application will not be able to connect to Yahoo Mail servers. Therefore, it is suggested to check with your Internal Service Provider(ISP) or the manufacturer of your security software to know how to check for and unblock ports.

  1. Check The Following Scenarios

If You Are Using an Older IMAP or POP Email App

If you are setting up your Yahoo Mail account in an older email app which uses IMAP or POP, you might see “Server password has changed” or “Authentication failed” error message. This error occurs because of those email apps using an outdated security protocol to which Yahoo has disabled access.

If You Are Using Yahoo Account Key or Two-Step Verification

If you have enabled the Account Key or Two-Step verification feature for your Yahoo Mail account, you will need to generate an app password for accessing your Yahoo Mail account on a third-party email client. To generate an app password, you will need to go to Account info > Account Security >Manage/Generate app password.

If You Have Added an Extra Email Address to Your Yahoo Mail Account

Always make sure that you have verified the extra email address that you add to your Yahoo Mail account. Having an unverified email address can lead to issues such as a 553 error code when sending a message using a third-party email application. You will need to follow the on-screen prompts in the email account on which you have received the verification message.

  1. Reach your Email App Manufacturer or Use a Different Email App

If you have checked that your Yahoo Mail account is functioning properly outside of the app, and you’ve already considered the other possible solutions, then it means there are some issues with the email app you are using. In such a case, you can contact the app manufacturer for additional troubleshooting steps or you can simply use a different third-party email app.

So, these are the workarounds that you can use to fix Yahoo Mail Internal Server error in your account.
